I know this has probably been asked before, but......

How do I go about getting my JAA ATPL if I already have an SA COM with IR multi and turbine rating?

and

If I have a British/EU passport what to I have to do before I can work in the UK ?

Thanks,
Gerard.

You'll need all the UK/JAA ground exams (sorry!) and an ATPL skills test and IR (if I recall correctly).

Hi there,

You'll need:

ATPL Exams all passed (14 of them)

15 hours of instrument training to convert your IR.

As many hours as you feel you need to prepare for the CPL skill test. There is no specified amount.

To convert your ME rating you'll need to do a skill test but this can be done at the same time as your 170A ( A flight test to see if your ready for your skills test.)

You will also probably need to get a JAR radio licence as I don't think the CAA recognize the SA radio licence as a straight swap.

Thats what you gotta do.

.... given that the exams cost GBP52 each, before sitting them you need to enrol with a registered training provider +- GBP2k, add to that the cost for your initial class 1 medical GBP420 ... to top it off, you will also need an MCC again at least another GBP2k ..... when converting to R's it becomes v expensive !

Hi thanks guys,

I've checked out the LASORS 2004. Accoarding to that I'd have to write all my exams under go the equivelant of a medical renewel (no X-rays or ECG). Then I'd have to re-do all my flight tests. At least it seems all my ratings will still be valid. I'd also have to do 650hrs ground school before writing the exams. But I've got a job offer from Air Seychelles which looks promising so I think I'll go there, mainly because there won't be all that hassle and I've got residency there.

Thanks for the help anyway.

Regards,
Gerard.
