Services start to Stornoway on 6 December, and to Londonderry on 14 December in a Bandierante, with six others routes proposed.

Operating a non pressurised aircraft up Stornoway in winter can be a challenge, and not much fun being bounced about in the back even on an average day in winter.

Eight routes in total will require quite a few more aircraft and crews.

Hope it goes ok but can't help but notice that the company behind it has changed it's name quite a few times!

From companies house website.

Previous Names:
Date of change Previous Name
01/07/2002 CLASSIC AIR LIMITED
08/05/2002 CLASAIR LIMITED
01/03/2001 CONNAIR LIMITED

Maybe they just can't make their mind up!

Hmmm, another airline playing the Scottish card in its moniker. Maybe we shoiuld take bets on how long this one will last...

I think there may be issues with using the Caledonian name, as Thomas Cook still own it. I seen to recall a few years ago that someone tried to use it and Cooks blocked it, so there may be another name change.

I was under the impression BA had bought back the Caledonian name.

I believe the company is called Air Caledonia. Thomas Cook own the name Caledonian so I don't see a problem in calling it Air Caledonia. As for them using an un pressurised a/c well Loganair used the SD360 for years on this route. It's good to see the islanders getting a choice in their air links. Good luck to them!

According to their website, the name is Air Caledonian.

I would imagine the name Caledonian Airways is trademarked rather that Air Caledonian so I do not see any problem.

They have also started radio advertising as I heard an advert on Radio Clyde advertising the Stornoway service at £129 return inclusive.

Good luck to them.

This is the startup aircraft on a damp leasing basis from Skydrift.

Regards the name and Thomas Cook remember a few years back the paper airline Caldeonian Wings who were gonna buy Delta's entire L1011 fleet etc. I'm sure jmc (as they were then) did have an issue with the name back then as they do own the Caledonian name.

However, would imagine that is Thomas Cook were going to get involved they would have done so by now... bit far down the road now...
