In Denmark, a fireworks factory has gone up in flames!
Let your imagination loose, it really was as good as that!

To cut to the serious bit, one fireman has been killed and 15-20 houses have been burnt down.

Apparently explosions could be heard more than 30kms away and 2000 people have been evacuated from their homes.

The fire started when they were loading some fireworks into a lorry and some-one dropped a box which exploded. Sounds like an iffy explanation to me. Spontanious combustion is used in some products but surely these must be properly packed. More like the driver dropped his fag!

Blardy good blaze, though.

Er, it was a fireworks factory blaze in Enschede in 1999 that killed 22 and left 2000 homeless.

No laughing matter

Oh, lighten up.

It's amazing that there haven't been more serious injurie, the size and distance that some of the debris has been thrown.

The point is the image of exploding fireworks factories and nothing else.

Old Danish saying (poorly translated),
He who only takes fun as fun,
And serious things only seriously.
He or she has actually taken
Both parts incorrectly!

If it weren't for the tragedy, people would have probably paid to see such a big spontaneous display. Shame about the deaths though.

Off topic a little but I find it very interesting to see people who look like me talking a foreign language, (like Russian or Danish as opposed to say French). I think this must be what it's like to have had a stroke.

The potential humour in this is not lost on me but, really, the fire is still burning and has been for almost 24 hours now.

According to this news site http://ekstrabladet.dk/VisArtikel.iasp?PageID=268911 (In Danish) the police has told 'hundreds of people' that their houses are either lost or seriously damaged. More than 350 properties are in the danger zone. Almost 80 injured, 17 of which serious, and at least one, a firefighter, dead. The police reports that there is still a risk for more explosions.

Here is a link to a set of photos: http://ekstrabladet.dk/VisArtikel.iasp?TemplateID=10837#

So, may I suggest we at least let them put out the flames before we make fun of it?

The fireworks are spectacular, but there's a couple of seriously impressive objects further down the link, FFF!

The residents in the area complained about the factory after disaster in Enschede, but the authorities deemed the factory safe.

My father is a firefighter in the airforce, and was send there with their crashtenders. They went all the way into the center of the factory to try and cool the remaining containers, but they could see on their thermal equipment that the temperature kept rising, so it was too blody dangerous to stay.

The area has allready turned into an attraction. Sad how people are drawn to disasterareas like that, but maybe our lifes has become to boring ?

Impressive display, seen in the safety of my own livingroom.
When you try to put it out, I think it is another business...

(spelling might suck...)
(and has been edited twice allready :O )

does thisSpansk minister raser mod brugen af kvindelige modeller som bolddrenge ved ATP-turneringen Madrid Masters mean that Denmark has a Minister of Spanking?

How hard is it to get a visa? :O

Talking of the Enschede incident , that day aircraft were reporting black smoke and updraft at FL310 , they could also see high flames from that level !

nope Onan, we dont have a minister for spanking... :)
Maybe a couple of masochists and some wankers.

Apparently what U found was about some spanish minister being upset about the use of female models in a tennismatch.
I thought that it was compulsary to use female models in all kinds of tv-broadcasts ranging from political debates to gameshows in the mediterranian region ?

Applying for Visa in Denmark ? thats easy - well.. You are talking about the creditcard, right ??

The explosion from the factory could be heared 200 km away, due to an inversion at 4500 feet. The soundwave bounced between the layer of hot air and the ground, and made it posible to hear the explosion in sweden...
