Can anyone say anything on the rumour that Etihad is to order the CRJ700 for regional operations??

First it was Gulf Air, then Saudi Arabian, then Etihad..... what has caused this sudden fascination with Regional Jets?

Considering the thin route structure, distances and summer temperatures, is a regional jet a viable option?

The shortest route Etihad has is AUH-BAH-AUH (about 45 minutes) and they use an A330 or an A340. No they are not gettting CRJ's. The smallest plane they have or need is the 330-200.

Regional jets would be great...except for the stove, sinks, tv sets, double bed mattress, Buick engine, 10 litre tins of powdered milk, packs of 40 no name brand tissue boxes and standard 45kg bags the passengers in this part of the world tend to carry around with them.

:ugh:

There is also a conspiracy in this region which I am trying to get to the bottom of which involves the smugglling of thousands of meters of rope to overseas destinations east of here, disguised as wrapping for the abovementioned articles. It must be costing the rope industry a fortune and could cause a global rope crisis!
