View Full Version : The Blue Nile; why wasn't I told?

I usually take little notice of record reviewers. Their elitism and musical snobbery usually makes any attempt at a genuine description of the music unlikely to succeed. But there was something about the odd word here or there in a brief review I read of The Blue Nile's latest album which piqued my interest, though I confess to never having heard of them before now. So I went searching, and yea verily, it was revealed to me in all its glory.

I've spent the last two days downloading all I could find and now have a Blue Nile playlist on WMP. Can't stop listening to them. Superb stuff, and I haven't found a bad track yet.

Why didn't somebody tell me earlier?????

You obviously don't get either John Peel or Janice Long on the radio Dununda. Over the last ten years or so, both have championed the band.
Another example of talent being completely ignored by both the masses and the meeja.
If you're into really alternative music have a listen to Peelie (http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/alt/johnpeel/index.shtml) on the interweb thingy but be warned his musical tastes are eclectic beyond belief.
BBC Six Music's pretty good as well. :ok:

A thousand pardons, I quite obviously ignored it to my own cost. Unfortunately I can't see what page it was actually on so that I can go back one and see what you were responding to.

But thank you anyway, now that I know you to be a man of taste and discernment, I shall heed your voice much more closely in future... :ok:
