Hi all,

Wondering if anyone has captured any photo's of helo's with ice accumulated on them. I have several but need a few more for a project I am working on. Any type or quality would be great.

Air Methods in Englewood, Colorado used to have a real doozy...Nebraska based Bell 222...night flight...very dark part of the country....encountered a bit of ice....like several inches of it all over the aircraft....heart stopping photo actually. I think the pilot concerned is still there as a Training Captain...Company Check Airman.

Not exactly accumulated ice - but how do you test for helicopter icing ?

Sikorsky S-92 Icing Tanker Tests (http://www.shephard.co.uk/Search.aspx?Action=-187126550&ID=2c3bc68b-dc2c-4bf0-b410-39d0ee8ba295&Section=Rotorhub)

The National Research Council of Canada did extensive testing of helicopter icing using an ice generator (or whatever it was called).
You might try contacting them - try Google.

bb in ca, what are the types in the pics, and where did you get the third one from?

Hey sycamore,

Sorry, I guess I could have described them better.

The first one is a Eurocopter AS-350B on the ramp one chilly morning not long ago.

The second one I believe is Cougar Helicopters Super Puma from the East Coast of Canada.

The third one I don't know much about but when I found it the description said it was a Gazelle.

Best Regards,
