What happened to yesterday's post concerning the health concerns of one pilot about a company training captain? Did it get pulled? Was the topic too hot to handle? If so it is a shame as there were no names mentioned, nobody was libelled and the pilot involved was merely seeking advice on what he should do for the best. If we cannot discuss on pprune difficult human factor issues such as how to help a fellow pilot who may have a medical/psycholocigal problem and needs help, then the industry is not as mature is it should be. Or have I got it all wrong and the post has just been moved where I cannot find it - I have searched the relevant forums.

I have a feeling that this forum could just possibly be occasionally over-moderated. . .. .Could the amazingly talented and under-appreciated Pprune ruling junta back off and allow more free speech ? . .. .(This is totally unconnected with an uncontentious topic I started last week being pulled immediately).

Muchheavierthanair,. .. .qoute: "I have a feeling that this forum could just possibly be occasionally over-moderated". . .. .You know what, I think you are right. I had a signature with reference to an aviation website on my posts; Pilots do it with www.............too. One dark night the signature was gone and the access to edit my profile closed.. .Did I advertise for this website by having the URL in the signature? Probably yes. But what if a ppruner makes a reference to a URL in his/her post? Are they going to edit or delete that post? . .. .Over-moderated? Make up your own minds.

I think the thread may have disappeared because it is probably not too difficult to identify the individual concerned given that there aren't too many UK airlines operating that type of aircraft and employing a female training captain as well. Can't blame the moderators really.

I asked a question on "Hamburg Evacuation", that must have been more controversial than I thought. Anyone know why that one was closed?

I suspect EPRman is correct as it was somewhat identifiable - not that I have personally worked it out. But, then again, H 'n' H has often had people comment on his/her IQ - or rather, the lack of it!!! But I also agree it is a real shame that a legitimate concern has been stifled.. .. .Maybe, it is incumbent on us Posters to consider just how obvious we make our Post. While our nom-de-PPRuNe may hide us and therefore permit free speech, if we give too many details away, the phrase "it does not take a Rocket Scientist" applies regarding the ability of others to work out (a) who we are and (b) who we may be talking about.. .. .May I respectfully suggest that (a) maybe the Moderators were correct if they removed the Tread in this case and that (b) we could all help ourselves if we were to be a bit more generic in our cries for help. That way, we get the help and advice from the wise sages out there in PPRuNe-land whilst not opening ourselves up to a possible Witch/Warlock hunt.. .. .Only an idea!. .. .Cheers, H 'n' H

Two questions guys:-. .. .1) how readily identifiable was the individual concerned and . .. .2) How would you feel if you were being talked about openly in a public forum.. .. .Food for thought. .. .H

I would like to add a warning that if anyone intends to start a discussion about an identifiable individual then that person is going to first have to identify themselves publicly on here. There are many 'courageous' posters out there who are full of bravado and wisdom as long as they are cosseted behind their cloak of anonymity and I would have no doubt that they wouldn't think twice about starting a thread about someone they knew if their own name was on the post! . .. .For all those 'barrackroom lawyers', thank you for the advice but no thank you. If anyone wants to discuss the issues as they were raised in the thread under discussion then they should have the intelligence to write it in such a way that there is NO identifying information. For the original poster to quote that he/she is a J31 driver and then also mention the characteristics of the training captain then that is tantamount to naming the individual and shows a serious character flaw.. .. .There is nothing to prevent discussion about the problems but all the outraged, hand-wringing complainers should remember that if anyone is going to try and narrow the focus down to an identifiable individual, especially in a small company then it isn't going to stay on here and I dare any one of you who has expressed your upset about the thread being removed to post your real name on here. Try growing up and stop whingeing because your daily dose of tabloid expose has been taken away. Better still, set up your own web page and I will provide a free link to the thread as long as you are identifiable as the website owner. I won't hold my breath though.
