Airline Med Regs For Passengers

I am due to have a knee joint replacement very soon and I was just wondering if the airlines have reg's as to HOW LONG after SURGERY it is before you can travel long haul again??:confused: :confused:

I think your specialist would be the one to ask. DVT can be a REAL threat post-surgery. I am not aware of any specific restriction for your op and personally I would have thought that normal recuperation time would suffice. Someone from pax services or medical will probably be along to help you soon - just ring the bell:D

Just dont ask for the exit seat because you will be turned down.

You should ask your surgeon about the medical aspects. If you are not bandaged or visibly disabled or ill (=if no one notices) the airline won't ask for a medical certificate or a check with its Medical Service. If you have a medical problem, most airlines have a Medical Service that will study your case and give advice on whether you can fly or not. At my airline we have an emergency number for "last minute" cases.
You would not be allowed in an exit seat because you have to be "able bodied" to do it, since it is a key point for an evacuation (and it is not what I would recommend after a surgery).
