Would that be SMB or SRB?

Ok I didn\'t read the title properly! Sorry!

Why would bmi want to merge with flybe? Or vice versa. Combined routes to take on the bigger boys?

Seems strange, given that there is very little synergy or commonality in terms of fleet/routes etc.

Whatever.

They do have something in common.

They are both private held concerns whose financial performances are hidden from public view.;)

AVIACO,

i think that in these highly competitive times, and certainly in the LOCO market where domination is by two huge players, it would make sense for 2 smaller carriers to join forces.

Why suffer individually at the hands of Easy&Ryan? why not give yourself a better chance by pooling resources? Take the successful/profitable sections of the companys, remove any duplication and give yourselves a good chance of surviving.

People are already speculating on who will survive / die in the forthcoming LCC bloodbath.... as both companies are private family companies i'm sure neither wants to lose the family silver to the likes of Easy/Ryan.

Also, with FlyBE now stating to its employees in writing, from JF, that it's A319 or 737 - announced by the end of the financial year... wouldn't a baby tie up make that fleet transition easier?

As for the companies not being "exactly the same.... therefore a merger won't happen" Bollox. That's never been a barrier to merge.

BMI baby are getting into code sharing at the moment (Air Wales), possibly a flybe-BMIb codeshare deal in the making?

Who knows. This is a rumour site for rumours-anything could happen!

bmi baby are to shortly begin flights from Birmingham, one of Flybe's main hubs, potential for codesharing?

The inference from the topic starter is bmibaby and Flybe not bmi / Flybe. bmi (mainline) if anything are still talking Virgin.
