I find myself in a terrible situation and seek the advise of all those out there...

I have just had an interview offer from the company who I have been trying to get in with for alomst 2 years.
They are the company I want to work for.

They are NetJets.

Here is my problem:

My interview date offered is for the 20th of this month. I am currently working, on a short term contract in Algeria fly a Beech 1900. I have been flying for this company on a contract basis for 3 years. I am only due to finish my rotation on the 29th of this month and it is highly unlikely that I will be able to leave early as my replacemnt is only due up the day before.

What should one do?

I think I should inform NJ of my situation and explain that I have a work commitment which I must honour first and would it be possible to reschedule a later interview.

But some of my fellow pilots here tell me I should just leave and go to the interview as it is a great opportunity.

I do not dispute that, but feel it would be wrong to drop my present employer for a interview..burning bridges?

Suggestions please...

Call NetJets and explain what you have written here. I would do it quickly too...

I was in a similar situation myself, firstly I tried to get someone to cover my watch, could you get on to your relief pilot and ask him to come down early? Maybe some sort of inducement, financial or otherwise?

Failing all that, in my case I called the prospective employer, explained the situation and luckily was given an alternative date.

I emphasised the loyalty issue and any reasonably flexible operation will respect that.

Good Luck
