What's wrong with the Windows Fax software?

You can install it from Add or Remove Software in Control Panel and then the subsection - Add or Remove Windows Components.

Coincidentally I have just been looking at the Windows XP fax in 'Add/Remove' on new laptop. .....On 'adding' advised "no modem on computer" (incorrect, otherwise wouldn't be sending this) and then later, "requires modem that supports fax".

Bit lost here. .....Would have thought new business orientated laptop could have coped with this, or are we talking about a driver update for the present one; SENS LT56ADW Modem .....???

BLUE SKY THINKER,

Any modem can be a fax, just make sure the drivers you have for the modem support fax functions.
