Ok, after the cadet has graduated and is S/O flying on the 744 or on the 340, how does he/she build up the time to get the ATPL later on if all they are flying is co-pilot time?

Also, what are the requirements for the HK ATPL and can an HK ATPL be converted to Canadian ATPL?

Last question for the day: After a cadet graduates from Cathay and is ready to work for them, do they have to basically sign their life away? ie. NOT ALLOWED TO jump ship type deal?

THANKS EVERYBODY FOR YOUR TIME

An S/O (ex-cadet) will not be able to get P1 hours until he/she upgrades onto JF/O. Then he/she will get P1 (U/S) hours when flying as PF.

Not sure about conversion from HKATPL to Canadian one.

When a cadet agrees to take up the sponsorship by CX, he/she has to sign a contract to work for at least 6 years. At least this was the case. Don't know the current practice. If one resigns before the 6-year period he/she is supposed to pay back the company the cost of training. So far there might be only one or two voluntary resignations before the 6-year period, and I haven't heard of any compensation demanded.

How do they log P1 if their sitting in the right seat? Is that how it works in Hong Kong?

so if I fly right seat in a C208 Caravan and i am Pilot Flying, then I am pilot in command?

anybody know the HK ATPL requirements?

P1(U/S): Co-pilot acting as pilot-in-command under the supervision of the pilot-in-command. Time logged as P1.

p1 (u/s) is that another column in the logbook? thats mad sketchbag. So your tellin me when their PF they are logging COMMAND time even though the captain is watching over them at all times? That kind of defeats the purpose of p1 as I see it.

Also, another question. After the cadet graduates from the program with 250 hrs, is all the flying that the cadet does till ATPL all straight and level flight?

What are the requirements for the Hong Kong ATPL? (ie. PIC, Instrument time, cross country time)

What is P1 (u/s)?

Is that where the pilot is sitting right seat and is Pilot Flying although he is being supervised by a captain? Can that time be attributed towards a higher licence?

TBF:
P1(U/S): Co-pilot acting as pilot-in-command under the supervision of pilot-in-command.
This is how P1(U/S) is defined and the time is logged as P1. I didn't make this up. It is written in the beginning of my log-book.

I got my HK atpl years ago so I can't tell what the requirements are now. But I can find out for you.

If I remember correctly, you can't have all P1 hours logged as P1(U/S). You got to have some "real" P1 hours, the amount of which I have to check.
