An invitation to all pilots of anything flyable, Enniskillen Airport, formerly known as ST. Angelo Airport Enniakillen has been reopened after a two and a half year mothballing exercise by the local council.
Two local businessmen/pilots have taken the enormous step of putting their money where their mouth is and have taken out a long term lease on this marvelous airport complex.
I would encourage any pilots who enjoys flying in totally uncontrolled airspace to come to EGAB. situated in one of the most picturesque parts of the north of Ireland - The Fermanagh Lakeland.
PPR is required, Enniskillen Radio operates on 123.20, the kettle is always on the boil and a very warm welcome awaits you.
More details are available from myself the A.T.C. through this forum.
Would also love to hear from anyone who has been here before or has any memories of St. Angelo.
See You Soon!

What great news, I have some very fond memories of the fly-in we had there in 1999, check out the write up at http://home.pi.be/~andre17/html/1999_enniskillen.html It was the occasion of the European Grumman club’s (AYA) www.aya.com annual gathering and was perhaps one of the best venues we have had in recent years. Our accommodation was the Manor House, www.manor-house-hotel.com a mere couple of miles north of the field and overlooking the marvellous Upper Lough Erne, which was superb at a very reasonable price. The area is steeped in history and stunning scenery . My wife and I have promised ourselves a return visit, we loved the place. :D

No sorry, we\'re not some far eastern flying group, that Grumman Club url should have read www.aya.org.

Bob,
I would be surprised if the NDB/DME is serviceable as I don`t think there is Air Traffic Control at EGAB.

Did a couple of day stops there in 98 as F/O on biz jet.

Most memorable was getting there early on a misty morning and making an approch over the church, just over the threshold and calling "Sheep" to which Cpt inquired what I was on about, "F***ing sheep on the runway" was my call which seemed to intiate the go-around quite nicely as a flock of sheep appeared out of the mist wandering across the runway.

Hope the Guy next door has now stopped grazing his sheep on the airfield over night when nobody is looking! or at least gets up early enough to clear them off!

:ok:

Folks,

Get on down to Enniskillen. Beautiful part of the world. I guarantee you'll love the approach, either end!

...sheep on the runway! Typical Fermanagh!

Used to put the Dash-8-300 through there at weekends on Jersey charters....wondered what happened to the airfield!
