A friend of mine tells me that a Boeing 757 has no facility to dump fuel. I am convinced he is wrong. Is he?

Nope, he is correct. No fuel dump on the 757.

No he is right as far as I am aware, the 757 (classics anyway not sure about the 300's) is certified to land at Max Take-off Weight and therefore has no need for fuel dump facilities. This the only aircraft I am aware of with this property.

A319, A320, A321, A330 (with or without fuel dump) all certified to land at MTOW as are many other types I'm sure.

Depending on the variant of 757-200, not all are certified to land at MTOW case in point the 200PF MTOW 115.8 tonnes, MLW 95.2 tonnes...

The word certified is misleading, as the certified MLW will always be lower than the certified MTOW. However, FAR25-1001 (I believe) states that an aircraft must be capable of returning to land within 15 minutes of takeoff. There is no way that a B757 or any aircraft can burn off the fuel difference between MTOW and MLW in 15 minutes, therefore it is taken that the aircraft can land at the MTOW.
If you look at a B757 landing chart, the weights shown will be much higher than the MLW for this reason.

Fuel Dump is optional on the 767 (-200 and -300) as well.

Mutt just dug out the books,and as usual you are right..I was referring to the structural limit, not the balked landing climb performance limit to which I THINK the charts are referring to..correct me again if I,m wrong..(Jack Daniels induced fuzzy math at work here!);) :cool:

The 757-300 does not dump.
But take all the beer in the plane, dump it in the sinks. Piss there as well and you´ve got one lighter jet (the toilet doesn´t go directly overboard, sorry to say when flying over selected areas).
