".net/.com" Domain Register

I realise one can look up the Nominet (http://www.nominet.org.uk/) website for UK domain name registration details, but where does one go for .net/.com?

Internic.net (http://www.internic.net/) - although I also use whois.net (http://www.whois.net/) as the first one doesn't always bring up all the info.
