View Full Version : Dubai Airport problem at 3AM this morning

I was inbound to Dubai in the early hours of this morning(being wed 22) when there was talk on the air waves of the Dubai Airport being closed due to unusual circumstances.Can anyone shed any light on this?:confused:

Yes I can, but unfortunately not in the public domain. If you work in the region, you will understand it happens from time to time. There was no actual problem with the airport.

Could you PM me and tell me what happened, if you don't mind. I am currently living in Dubai temporarily and my house is right on the end of the flightpath. Would be interested to know what occurred too.

A little birdie told me that it involved an Il-76 that was being shadowed (intercepted?) and subsequently was told(forced?) to divert to Abu Dhabi. Perhaps the initial warnings indicated they were planning on bringing the plane to DXB, but changed their minds.

As to the reason for all this; I'll leave that up to the conspiracy theorists.
