Anybody heard the rumours that bmi might be commencing new service from MAN to DUB and BFS or BHD to feed pax onto the long haul routes???

Anybody know anything???

someone actually listened to my pleas for BMI MAN services connecting to AC/BMI to YYZ?

Now a replacement of the WW MAN-ORK would be just champion as a follow-up.

bmibaby already started MAn-BFS quite recently. Its unlikely and unecessary to swop that to a "Full-Service" bmi

If you look at the recent press releases on the BMI website, you'll see that they recently announced that they will be codesharing with Luxair on DUB-MAN-DUB, to feed the transatlantic services. With 3 airlines already on the route, I can't see much point in BD starting service themselves.

didn't know that (and had looked at flybmi for flights recently). I can't see it in the list of press releases but google does show mentions in some other websites.

thanks

Mark D,

why replace the WW MAN-ORK with a BD. It would be smaller aircraft and higher fares?

Not if it was a 319. This means interlining bags to AC/BMI flight to Manchester and avoiding LHR, especially if those bags are 2x32kg.

Currently Luxair server DUB using an ERJ145, so BMI must not think that many longhaul connections will be using MAN instead of the usual LHR.

True, but with extra business it's not impossible to imagine a 735 (which Luxair possess) on the route if properly marketed by BMI. BMI could start this process by putting the flight on the website timetable.

DUB-MAN is a shorter flight and connections at MAN are probably not as bad as at LHR (have only connected at Manch once, in 2000, but lived to tell the tale). While EI does provide ORD and BWI (instead of IAD) the quality of the product for business pax may drive them to what is often referred to on PPRuNe as an excellent BMI transatlantic product. In the summer AC and Transat do fly DUB-YYZ but the stopover does detract from it.

At the end of the day, long haul needs feed and with Aer Lingus going the Ryan route, alternatives to LHR are going to start looking attractive soon, not just for BMI but for BA services from Manchester too, especially if you don't live in Dublin and need a UK connection for flights to Cork.

I spoke with the Duty Manager of BMI today, and can say that BD are indeed looking at a three-times a day service from Manchester to Dublin, mainly to feed in to their long haul services. This has come about from Virgin Holidays marketing their holidays to the Caribbean and Las Vegas via BD flights from Manchester, and the demand from the Irish Republic has apparently been 'massive'. No start date ahs been given, but 1st December is being muted.....

Does anyone have any more news regarding the possibility of bmi taking over the baby BCN and CDG? This one seems to have gone very quiet.........

The bmibaby flight to BCN on their website is no longer available to book for the winter, is this clue that mainline might be taking the route over??????..........
