My motherboard does not have any Firewire sockets, nor does it have any 'headers' to connect Firewire sockets to. Can I get a PCI card with Firewire sockets and a 'header' to connect to a socket on the front of my computer?

The system is as follows:-
ABIT VT7 motherboard
Celeron 2.4 Ghz. processor
512 Mb. memory
ABIT Radeon 9200SE-T AGP card
10Gb. internal h/drive + 120Gb. external h/drive
LG DVD/CD reader/writer

The reason for asking is that I have been offered an internal 8-in-one internal memory card reader/writer with a Firewire socket fitted which requires connecting to a Firewire 'header'. Seems a pity not to be able to use the Firewire part of it!

Thanks in advance.

Yes Firewire PCI cards are available for about £20.

I fried a Pinnacle Firewire capture card earlier this year and replaced it with a PCI card. 3 slots on the rear and 1 inside the case for plugging in a front-of-case firewire slot.

Compass Call,

Actually, I just go to photos of hardware for sale.

There is a great E-Tailer called:

New Egg (http://www.newegg.com/)

If you right click on the pictures I linked and select Properties, you will see most of the Pix I post are from there.

The only trick is knowing where to look for the hardware people are looking for. ;)

Take Care,

Richard
