Any news on TransAer 2? I know the plans are in place, but anything more solid? As an ex-TLA guy, I could be tempted...

Ex-Skynet staff launch airline (http://www.sbpost.ie/web/DocumentView/did-745668321-pageUrl--2FThe-Newspaper-2FSundays-Paper-2FNews.asp)

A group of Irish investors and former staff of the Shannon-based Skynet Airlines are launching a charter airline, which will fly to holiday destinations in north Africa and the Mediterranean.

The new carrier, Eirjet, will launch its services in December. The principals behind Eirjet include the former Skynet operations director, Robbie Winders, and Bernard Healy.

Healy's Dublin company, Idray, controls the tour operators Omni Tours, Omni Travel, Malaga Express and Faro Express. A number of other investors are involved in the new airline. Paul Schutz, a former accountant in Ryanair, is also involved.

``This is purely a charter airline,'' Schutz told The Sunday Business Post. ``We are not going to enter the low cost airline business. We are a proper airline, not a `Jet Green' airline.''

Eirjet filed an application to the Irish Aviation Authority in August to obtain its air operator's certificate.

``Initially, we're going to fly for Irish operators to destinations like Lanzarote, Agadir and Morocco,'' said Schutz.

``By next summer, we'll be flying to all the usual sun spots.''

Eirjet's administrative headquarters are based in Shannon but the company will operate from Dublin initially. The company currently has one aircraft, an Airbus A320, but will increase its fleet to three within the next few months to extend services to Shannon and Cork airports.

Eirjet will employ 40 staff by the end of the year and 120 by next April.
