hi all ,i am finally a few days away from getting my ppl(jaa) and would like to know if one has to have a certain amount of hours before embarking on a ATPL course and doing the exams or does it apply towards the CPL only??.

No, all you need is a PPL issued iaw ICAO (which a JAA PPL is).

hours apply to the cpl only 150 hrs for the flight test .

Hate to be a pedent there TopGun, but it's 150 hours to start the CPL flying course rather than sit the test.
