Hello,

Do the S/O schedules allow commuting from the US? Is it possible to bid a line with 20 on 10 off, or something similar? Thinking of applying (4300 hrs, 1600 multi, 500 airline F/O- turboprop).

Sounds like a pretty damn good part of the bush you are in!

Hey bushy, contrary to what sony says, commuting as an S/O is probably the best time to do so with the current roster having anywhere between 8 to 12 days off between duties. As for jumpseating, I think you refer to rolling up to the checkin desk, flashing the ID and on you go. In CX you have to purchase a ticket, staff travel that is, and if you think the loads are going to be tight, then when the roster comes out, sort out your flights and then request the jumpseat and it will be duly approved or otherwise by the captain. Depending on crewing there will be either 1 or 2 jumpseats available, but if you are commuting from America, then there is only 1 jumpseat available.

I know of several S/Os who in their first year rented a house in Bali and commuted from there to HK and spent the rest of their time on the beach or surfing:cool:

Good luck

Bushy,

Nosegear speaks the truth.

But commuting from the states would be hard work. Don't forget you will lose 2-3 days of you time off just travelling. And loads are generally very full out of North America.

Come to HKG and enjoy the good life.

Cheers
