The RAF website lists Wattisham as an RAF flying station complete with RAF Station Wattisham badge.

I thought this was an Army Air Corps base not an RAF Station, anyone shed some light ?

I believe, though I am prepared to be corrected, that Wattisham (and possibly others) are still owned by the RAF but leased to the Army.

Or perhaps they're just trying to make it look as though we still have an air force of a reasonable size.

Hi Serf,
There's a pretty good history of WTM here...

Part 7 will probably be of most interest to you.
