Daft question really - anyone give me the lowdown on getting a frozen ATPL issued 'in person' at the CAA, as opposed to sending the forms by post?

Am interested in where (Kingsway or Gatport Airwick), how (just turn up or make an appointment?), when (Friday morning 0900 OK?) and anything else you think I should know.

I hate sending logbooks through our wonderful postal system and frankly I can't wait anyway!

Thanks in advance.

Can't be done AFAIK. The counter service at Gatwick is only for the addition of ratings to existing licences. You can take your application and logbooks and hand them over personally but you won't get the licence any quicker.

Hand everything over at FCL @ LGW - it'll take about 20 days...

Cheers for that. Might take a tent if it's going to take 20 days...
