Did my FI course there, didn't have any problems and they were quite helpful, they have own maintenance and availability of aircrafts is good, the instructors are good too.
no complains

only thing thoug is taht LECU (cuatrovientos aerodrome) is where 80 % of the Sapnish FTO's are based and is very busy, early in the morning expect delays.

if you need any other info do not hesitate.

I did my PTLA in LECU also, it´s a bit of a pain, as LEVC mentioned. I would consider going to other parts of spain, say Valencia or andalucia area, they also have better weather in the winter months.
If you have no time restrictions you´ll do fine in madrid, many of the FTO´s offer good teaching aerofan, aeromadrid, american flyers...

Good luck
