Give yourself plenty of time to meet your slot time. Listen out a couple of items prior in case of tactical changes. Please make every possible effort to keep to the slot times and durations listed above. There is a cushion of one to two minutes between some items however this is a safety separation margin and should not be assumed to be yours.

Keep to the briefed minimum lateral separation distances appropriate to the operating speed of your aircraft and the type of display.

Do not fly below the height specified on your Display Authorisation. Remember the crowd line is compact but this means many folk deep. Let the ones at the back enjoy it too. Unless necessary for the specific display item keep your minimum height to 100 feet unless a higher limit is specified on your DA.

Keep radio calls to an absolute minimum to leave the frequency for essential traffic.

Check 6 while displaying. The airspace is NOTAMed but this does not sterilise it. A midair can spoil your entire day - and I know…!!

ENJOY YOURSELVES AND WE WILL ENJOY IT WITH YOU.

In the immortal words of that legendary Stateside airshow briefer -
“DON’T DO NUTHIN’ DUMB………………………!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Hello there team and in particular PPRuNe Pop,

Thanks for the PM. Fully appreciate the situation however I would point out that Key Publishing were perfectly happy to let it go on their forum.

After all, I was offering your viewers a fairly unique opportunity to get priviledged information from the "horses mouth" and not the speculation from the other end of the animal often found on forums - including your own occasionally. As the appointed Display Director of the airshow and as a person with more public airshow performances to my credit since starting in 1958 than anyone currently, or even recently, on the airshow scene my credentials are totally assured. Your readers wish to get up to date information on events they may plan to attend and not just historical reports of what happened.

Frankly just who are you to deprive them of this opportunity?
Is the proximity of Little Gransden to your chosen venue of Old Warden a little too close for comfort?
Are you being a little too supportive of shows organised to support one registered charity at the expense of another?
I would appreciate answers in due course as I have an airshow to direct tomorrow.

Having directed a fairly effective guided missile, or more likely a hittile, in your direction I would add that I have derived great amusement and information from being a subscriber to PPRuNe and hope this will continue in the future. You do a fine job along, I must add, with the other aviation forums. In particular I have the utmost respect for your potential power to redress unreasonable action which bears unfairly on those of us who regard aviation as either profession, pleasure or passion. As a 66 year old OAP and member of OFFA (Old Flying Farts Association) it is really the only passion left...................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In addition to this email I am posting this on your forum and dare you to leave it there..................!!!!!!!

Sincerely,

Barry Tempest MRAeS

Barry, I have no intention of letting this become a free for all. That you should use my PM (Private Message) to you to make a reply is, as I remember, not like you.

The rules are there and I don't make them. The owner of the site does, I apply them according to his dictat, he pays the vast bills to run PPRuNe and he says what can and can't be placed on PPRuNe .

There many requests for large, and small, displays to be placed on PPRuNe every year and they are refused. The exception, as I explained to you is the Shuttleworth which we have rightly 'adopted' because it is, significantly, our aviation heritage and I felt that we should keep it in the available limelight of PRuNe, Danny agreed. On the other hand we don't mind the ocassional 'fly-in' getting a mention but beyond that, no. I am sorry you appear to have decided that as the Trust gets publicity you should too. Maybe you should have asked first and then this unpleantness would not have occured. But then that is why we have moderators - to remove unapproved postings. But, I am especially sorry to note that you have have failed to express any appreciation that I didn't actually remove it - I hope my 'mistake' helped!! ;) Even my mod hat has holes in it now and then.

That said, I will always remove anything that I have to. That is the way it is.

Please continue to enjoy PPRuNe Barry.

Oh and!

Frankly just who are you to deprive them of this opportunity?

See above.

Edit: By now I expect you have had a good day. Hope our help was apparent. Anyway, no email and I win the dare. That's it
