Supertrick XG is a fancy name for a couple of neat and simple dodges that have been around for a long time. Zero Grid had the near idea of packaging them together and rolling a Windows installer that sets 'em up nicely and painlessly for the less nerdy.

Part 1: is just an up to date anti-junk Hosts file that redirects your browser to a non-existent Web address (127.0.0.1) when it sees a known source of spam/adware. I've been using such a Hosts file for ages but this one is uptodate and the setup is neat. You can (and should) personalise your hosts file as well. This is combined with:

Part 2: eDexter is a tiny Webserver works only within your PC (no security worries). It fields the Hosts requests and returns a tiny GIF saying "Blocked!" (or anthing else you like). This speeds up the whole affair considerably.

For the nerdy, you can also use a PAC datafile which is much faster than searching through a large unindexed Hosts file. There are a a couple of other neat tricks too...

It's free and yes, there IS an uninstaller...:E

Highly recommended.
