Foreign License in Malaysia

Can one fly as a private pilot on a Malaysian registered aircraft with a Canadian license?

Also, to convert a Canadian license would basically mean taking another examination?

To fly as PIC in a Malaysian aircraft requires:

Air Law, very similar to UK Air Law

Navex, typically Kuala Lumpur to Malacca, takes about 70 mins round trip

Pass Competency Test

All very simple, been there etc. etc
