I need to edit a DVD - no it is not a commercial DVD, it is a dated version that I had made a couple of years ago. I need to add some overlays from another program - rather like text on top of this DVD film. Has anyone any recommendations to what software editing tools would be needed. I have copied it onto my hard disc which come out as .vob .ifo and .bup files and it runs from the hard disc OK. I have a Freecom DVD RW hardware. Your help much appreciated.

DVD Decrypter (http://www.dvddecrypter.com/)

and

DVD Shrink (http://www.dvdshrink.org/where.html)

Thanks Richard, I'll try the sites. Just for info, I am in the middle of developing a new use for the Head Up Display, hence the need for an overlay!!

CUNIM,

If you are going to make your own DVD, you can also use:

Pinnacle Systems (http://www.pinnaclesys.com/)

Thanks Richard. The DVD is not encrypted which is a plus as I had it made for my personal use a couple of years ago. Keep fingers crossed.

The only way (that I know) that you could do this is to convert the .vob files etc to an mpg file (you won't loose any quality) then load it into your video editing package, pinnacle studio for example. Then re-render the finished article and then burn that to DVD. I don't think it is an easy task, have a look here for more info dvdrhelp (http://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=224833)

Thanks spannersatcx, your solution looks as though it could win. I have never been afraid of going for broke (as long as I have a backup!!). I'll let you know how it goes. If you see a red screen - it is just my blood!!

Hi Richard

Have a look at www.atc-hmi.com under HUD and www.salconsultants.com as they will give you a taster. We are hoping to demo this next February in ATC Maastricht.

Doug,

Interesting look into the future. I hope all us left eye dominant people will be able to use it too. ;)

Hi Richard

That was the old prototype, the new one is all integrated circuitary and is much smaller and user friendly. I am working on a binocular one now for 3D vision. Wait to see the pilot version!! Magic for VFR flight.
