I've just heard that RAF Akrotiri are going to be starting PPL training in the near future, with an introductory 1/2 hour trial lesson at CYŁ15 (ONE FIVE!!!)

Has anyone else got any more info on this?

Is it JAA approved training (Cyprus not JAA member at present?)

Is it only PPL or can they undertake CPL and IR training?

Is it restricted to persons serving in Cyprus only?

Are ex-forces (i.e. me - on reserve list until 31/10/04) with family serving in Cyprus eligible to undertake any training - I have a 210 hour PPL and want to build up hours and sharpen skills for modular CPL / IR training. I am sick of having to cancel flying slots in the UK due to WX and a/c unavailability and this would be an ideal opportunity to get some reasonably priced flying in good VFR WX with good instructors (I used to fly at RAF Laarbruch / Bruggen / Bicester and always had the best of instruction).

I have flown in Cyprus but it ain't cheap by any stretch of the imagination.

I realise I probably won't be able to take advantage but it never hurts to ask.

Be grateful for any info.

Best Regards,
