Although too early to count the chicks, today's La Prensa has an article that domestic carrier La Costeña is contemplating a new service between Managua -- Ocotal -- Jalapa in Northern Nicaragua.

La Costeña is still studying the feasability of such a route, targeted at the forestry industry, using their 12-passenger seat Cessna Caravans. A problem appears to be that Ocotal does not have a suitable airstrip at this time, which would limit the service between Managua and Jalapa. Nicaragua's Direccion General de Aeronáutica Civil has made an inspection of the runway's suitability, and once approved the Ministry of Transportation will coordinate with the National Police to provide security.

According to the article, round trip air fare will be around 600 córdobas ($1 USD = $C 16.00).
