Does anyone known when the fire season starts and finishes. Obviously each year is different but wanted to get a general idea of when it starts and finishes.

Thanks

From May 1 to November 1 in a worst (or best??) case senario.

Above poster is correct for the hiring process. The worst fires seem to start around August and go until the first rains. Sept/Oct sometimes later.
Los Angeles fires start when the winds pick up. Fires in the North of California when the dry lightning goes through.

Depends upon the part of the country....from Florida to Alaska covers a lot of different climate and terrain variations.

Over here in Australia at the moment ain't a great time. We're currently in a drought and if the fire season starts at the same time, we'd have no choppers to hire :uhoh:

The fire professionals says the fire season should start very soon. They say the drought will end at the end of 2004. Let's just hope there will be no fire season!

Cheers
