Anyone know exactly what a 'bluetooth serial port' is (IPAQ 3870) and how I can get to see its settings? Widcomm USB dongle in use.

I can access files and 'contacts' on the IPAQ from the desktop via BT, (which presumably access via this 'serial port'), but every time I try to connect to the 'Bluetooth Serial Port' I am told that the Ipaq 'closed the connection'. The 'start up' settings on the IPAQ are all 'greyed out' when accessed via 'properties' on the BT controller.

Until I get this *** thing to work I cannot even try to 'activesync' via BT which will be another saga!

Might help:

Ta muchly, Orac - '1' I had seen already, '2' I had not! I'm off to the IPAQ site to check for Rom updates. It seems from '2' that the 3870 does not give access to the bluetooth serial port.

Not sure if I'm missing the point, but I have a 3870 which talks happily to my BT cellphone and to my laptop via the BT dongle on the laptop. I can synch with no problems via that route.

I did have to download several updates (the day the 3870 arrived!) before it would work properly. I wasn't best impressed with the quality control on the product, but it works OK now.

What exactly won't it do that you want to?
