Just returning from this years Formula 1 Grand Prix in Hockenheim/Germany. What really made me mad were this years landing fees at the "Hockenheim Ring". Prices went up to € 450. Since there is no parking available at the heli pad (at least not for helicopters other than the heliport operator's ones) you can double that fee just to drop off one load of passengers.
:yuk:

Almost the same situation at the "Nuerburgring" but at least they've got parking available.

Why does everybody thing that they have to rip off the helicopter branch? Why do they always have to spoil a good idea by trying to make a fortune?

A couple of years ago they've counted over 120 helicopters (not landings but different helicopters) on a single day. Now they are complaining about a decreasing amount of landings and finally take this situiation as a justification to increase the landing fee even more (Higher costs to run the heliport divided by less landings = higher landing fees ???)

Now just out of curiousity. How much is a landing fee in Silverstone, Spa, Magny-Cours or anywhere else in the world???

Having not been involved in Silverstone for a while these prices may be a bit out of date but it used ti be £125 plus per seat (occupied or not) per landing!

Silverstone is arounf 115 pounds plus VAT per seat for the round trip in and out plus 25 quid parking but there is plenty of space. This year was pedestrian as they are pricing themselves out of the market. Five years ago the sky was full of heli's, now its no busier than an HCGB meeting!

Have you not realised this will be due to that Giant amongst men of Bernie Ecclestone, the poison Dwarf needs all the cash dosh he can squezze out of his public, before they get tired of watching overpaid boys race round a strip of tarmac to see what time the can finish behind Shumacher!

Who needs an airport, those are for planks!

Drop 'em off in the nearby field I say! Then tell those guys they charge to much for those small things with the "H"s on them.

Its the same in the fixed wing world.couple of years ago at Nevers (magny cours) we used to park our citation for about 50 euro a week during off season testing. Got quoted 500 euro for the 3 day race weekend. Supply and demand.
