Following on from the few I posted earlier, heres more!!
What a cracking week, the weather conspired to make us damp but also meant that there were some great vapour shots to be had.

Brilliant! Think every pic I've ever seen of G-222s at RIAT have those vapour trails coming off the props - an indictment of the prevailing weather conditions at so many!
Love the cap of vapour on the Swiss F-18 canopy!
You going to Farnborough?

See what you mean about the vapour shots - really adds to the whole sense of the forces at work.
Is it just me, or are the AMRAAMS on that US Navy Super Hornet at a fairly obvious divergent angle? What's more - why?

Nice shots, MotF. Didn't realise you were there Monday, I'd have come and said hello. I was further up the flight line.
You can see 'my' balloons here www.stevelevien.com/riatballoons04.htm The dog was amazing!
Cool photos. The one with the spirals coming off the props is something I've not seen anything like before!
Prop spirals are fairly common on damp days (great pics MOTF, especially the F-15E departing)

Saw your name in the programme and nearly gave you a buzz, then noticed a mahoosive Bulldog floating across the Flightline and figured you may be busy. :D

I may be interested in a commercial or barter arrangement for a few of your Hornet pics for a book project I'm working on. Same goes for anyone else who has any recent high quality Hornet or Super Hornet pics. ;)

These are quite the finest photographs I have seen of The Air Tattoo this year.
Very well done and thanks for sharing them with us. You should turn professional.

MOTF,
Absolutely amazing pictures, very good quality.
Do you mind sharing what you are using to take the pictures. Are they digital or film. What lens /camera combination are you using?

I have sold my soul to the god of the Pixel, its a Canon D60 with (usually) a 100-400L IS Lens but in a couple of cases I was lent a 500L lens by the very nice Japenese guy sitting near to me in the stand, its an amazing lens but a bit out of my price range.

Great pics RS2. I trust you were there on the Saturday looking at the blue skies!
Be careful with the resize and sharpening tools though to avoid the "jaggies".
I was trying to get them small enough so that they would be accepted within the posting but they have gone a bit jaggy in places..

Spot-on photos! So what sort of dosh are we talking about for that sort of camera? I have a Nikon F60 with a Sigma 28-300 lense and, being a lazy sod, hardly ever use it (preferring my Sony digi with a 3.2 pixel lense). Not anywhere near your expertise, but need to take the odd piccy for painting purposes - do you reckon it's worth me changing?

Nice shots. Did you do any sharpening and if so was it before of after re-sizing them?
Smartman
All depends what sort of pictures yoy are trying to take. You can get a Canon 300D of about 700GBP nowadays. That gives you a 6mp digi SLR albeit with reduced capabilites compared to the D60 I use, however I have seen some superb images with it.
It does all depend on the quality of glass you put in front of the sensor. The more you spend on Lenses the better quality pictures you will get. This isnt always noticable on pictures displayed on the web (although sometimes you it allows you to get images you couldnt get with lenses lower down the quality range); however if you blow them up to A3 size and above, it becomes more apparent. I have both Low and High quality lenses, its horses for courses really.
If you are happy with your current kit then dont change for the sake of it. But if you need to get large prints then its certainly worth going for 6mp plus (new Canons will have 8mp plus).
MOTF,
I was very lazy, I just used the sharpening facility in Microsoft Photo Editor (very basic but very quick) and then resized.
These are about all the digi shots I took over the weekend bar a few 'dark' arrivals pics. Monday was a different story but I reverted to my faithful 'old' provia 100f slide film and managed around 20 rolls I think.
