Just heard on the news that an Lufthansa A300 made an emergency landing at Heathrow London. Due to smoke in the cockpit. The report said that the plane was headed to Munich when the pilot noticed smoke in the cockpit and turned back towards Heathrow and landed safely at around 16:00 hours

Quote from Ireland on line. "A helicopter from Solent Coastguard was called in to escort the aircraft to Heathrow"

A 300, FRA-LHR, had an (avionics) smoke warning, arrived at LHR 20 mins earlier than expected - those are the facts.
Oh, yes - the smoke could not be confirmed on ground... :hmm:

<<Oh, yes - the smoke could not be confirmed on ground...>>
Why, hadn't it been baptised yet?
Tech log entry:- "Smoke in Cockpit"
Engineering response:- "Smoke removed"...
