A short and Simple one this. Do the Royal Family (and i suppose Teflon Tony) pay landing fees, both at home & abroad? (i mean i know ultimately we pay them, but technically does the PIC have to go to the terminal or whatever and write a cheque?)

Just idle curiosity on a slow friday night.

From my experiemce, yes - the invoices are sent to the relevant military unit.

Cheers everyone - i remember reading somewhere that RAF units got "billed" for fuel taken on during AAR and was just wondering if a similar thing happened with the Royals and Landing fees. Cheers for the replies.

The simple answer is yes they do. And pay for fuel and ground handling facilities [marshallers, handlers, honey truck, etc].

The captain signs for all of the above and the handling agent sends an invoice to MOD. The MOD then sends the invoice to the captain, who verifies the services provide and then it is duly paid.

The amount is then set against the Sqn budget and is subsequently set against the department involved, be it the Royal family or a political office.
