Hi folks,
Not aviation related so please forgive. I have a 3 week stop over in NZ from mid December this year and would like to rent a 4x4 and leave it in Christchurch. Any suggestions for hire companies for the best deal would be appreciated
thanks

start here mate...

Car Hire (http://www.piperpat.co.nz/nz/motor/rent.html)

Most have online enquiry forms and some have price guides.

Let them know your needs and they'll let you know exact costs...it pays to shop around and december is a busy period so make sure you book early

hi there

U may want to try www.autoeurope.com

they are very cheap, based in the USA and tend to undercut even travel agents and car rental companies here in oz.

Mite be worth a shot

cheers

Thanks guys - there is a VERY wide variation in prices so far quoted. If anyone can offer any further advice then it would be welcomed. the 2 links listed have been very helpful.

Not sure if they have 4 X 4's, but Avis usually do a good deal for airline staff/crew throughout NZ. Sure there are some cheaper operators, but at least with the likes of Avis, you know you are always going to get a good, clean, reliable set of wheels

One of the girls I work with hired a car through an "el cheapo" operator at AKL, and had heaps of trouble with it

Hope this helps
