Have heard that all but 2 of Teessides winter IT services have been canceled. Would like to know if for one its true and if it is WHY.

Just trying to think what the winter IT flights are:

Saturday - Alicante
Tuesday - Alicante
Thursday - Lanzarote
Friday - Tenerife x 2

I think thats what was on offer last year; if we lose 3 of those thats not good!

Just looked on the airport site and it shows only these flights left:

Alicante (Tue) Thomson

Tenerife (Fri) Thomson, Thomas Cook, First Choice

so no flights/holidays for MyTravel this winter

the ALC is normally BY, TFS normally AEA.

Teesside has released expansion plans today, they basically include:

> Extend and refurbish the terminal to 28,000 sq m
> Build new parallel taxiway
> Nine new stands (new 30,000 sq m of apron)
> Increased car parking to 4,500 parking spaces
> A 20,000 sq m 'Cargo and Maintenance Village'
> An 18,500 sq m Business Park plus 620 parking spaces
> A new hotel and restaurant

New expansion plans (http://www.teessideairport.com/devel/press/index.shtml#story13)

I think these expansion plans are great for the airport, which will, I guess, make it more attractive to airlines, and benefit the whole area.

What Teesside airport needs to do is not to change the name to Durham Tees Valley. I hope Teesside does well, nice friendly airport much more prefferable than Manchester, however you cant beet LBA.

Onion, I suspect the IT services at NV are suffering the same problem as elsewhere i.e. low cost airlines muscling in on traditional bucket and spade destinations.
Less Thomas Cook, Thomsons etc. does not mean less passengers, although probably less revenue for your airport/employer.

Bad news about the IT services. Wonder if Peel can persuade Thomsons or Thomas Cook to step in for Gran Canaria and Lanzarote.

just looking on bmibaby site, and in timetables it has some clues about the services from Teesside over the winter-

Teesside-Prague 4 times a week, Mon, Wed, Fri PM and Sun Am
Teesside-Malaga 5 times a week, Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat am and Sun PM
Teesside-Palma 3 times a week. Tue, Thu am, Sat evening
Teesside-Alicante 2 times a week. Tue, Thu pm,
Teesside-Belfast 6 times a week, Mon-Fri at about same time as now and a 7.50am departure to Belfast on a Sunday morning! If nobody is flying to Belfast at the moment, I don't think this will attract anyone! No Sat Flight.

No new destinations and no slot for a Geneva with the based aircraft. Maybe a 'w' pattern from EMA/CWL or MAN?? Unless of course a 2nd 737 is coming, which I doubt for the winter.

Also good news about the proposed developments, although we have seen proposals about the air freight/maintenace development before and nothing ever happened. Hopefully Peel will make it happen.
