Just a quick query. I went to get a dual check to fly a Gazelle ultra-light and was told that the AUF requires a minimum of five hours dual before being allowed to fly solo. I advised the local instructor that I was an experienced and current pilot (grade one instructor etc) - but apparently it is cast in stone. What the stuff are we supposed to do for five hours? That's an awful lot of circuits.
Surely there must be a concession for previous experience. I thought around 30 minutes of circuits would have been sufficient.
Is it true that you need five hours before solo?
