You make a hash of things sometimes - but on the whole you mean well!

You are after all still only a teenage country :D

You cannot expect much out of a bunch of folks that tried to make saltwater tea!

Lots of flags about today....and a beautiful sight they are too! I have been reading Jefferson and paying particular attention to his position regarding character, patriotism, and the value of freedom....we certainly need to remember the need for such things.

Flying Lawyer,

Thank you for your kind comments...this year's national celebration reminds me of why we are so proud of being Americans. We are engaged in a war with those that would do away with all that we hold so dear...we are in an election process that proves the wisdom of our Founding Fathers and shows to the rest of the world how a free people can influence the government.

So many of our freedoms are taken for granted by so many, and the sacrifices of those who go in harm's way to defend that freedom are overlooked by those who enjoy those very freedom's.

I was invited to a outdoor barbeque last night at a friend's home, he is a former US Navy Submariner, his neighbor is a Sheriff's Deputy that I fly with on Law Enforcment flights...we had a lovely dinner, then the fireworks started. The entire neighborhood it seemed, participated individually.

While the fireworks were going off, I heard a Mother telling her children what it was all about. She explained to the children what it meant to be an American in a few minutes....told them about the National Anthem, the battle that inspired the song, the Flag...and the meaning of "freedom".

We are going through some trying times, but after last night...knowing that same thing was being repeated at other places...the future remains bright.
