Some time ago I asked what might cause a computer clock to run slow, 5-10 mins in 24hrs. The popular answer was to change the battery...I did this recently and it makes no difference. I am running W98se, 300Mhz, 128RAM, all AV up to date, no ads or spyware.
I do have a couple of progs to sync the time but I'd still like to know what causes the problem.
Can anyone suggest what to try (apart from a new computer!!)
Thanks in advance.

roach,

Another cause of slow clocks in Antivirus Programs. You could try uninstalling yours and see if your comp still loses time.

Take Care,

Richard

P.S. Mobo Clocks are very cheap and inaccurate. (The main reason M$ put a clock update via the web in WinXP.) ;)

Thanks for the help. I do leave the PC on all the time and have AV on so I guess it is down to Microsoft and W98!!

roach,

Do run:

Trend Micro's HouseCall (http://housecall.trendmicro.com/)

Some Viruses have been known to cause the same symptoms. (This way we also make sure your AV Program is working.) ;)

Take Care,

Richard
