Within the Biz Jet world, do the rolls of PF and PNF get split evenly between the Captain and F/O as they do in the airlines?

Obviously it all depends but basically it will be 50/50 like everywhere else. However, there is some owner pilots who like to do flying and paid hand do the Jepp revisions....

Compton,

Do not expect to get them split 50/50 in your early soties. Any good operator / training captain will vary the duties according to what will be of most benefit to you. As a F/O you should watch and learn from the Captain. There will be situations you should see before trying to handle them. I once had a new F/O in a big jet who thought it was 'his turn' to handle. He had just completed training and was starting line training and had only ever flown in the summer. This take off was in 200m vis at night with a cross wind on a wet runway and this seemed of little concern to him. He was quite upset when I informed him I would handle the take off!

Handling is actually the easy bit of line training. Often the difficult bit is doing the R/T in a busy environment, particularly when abroad.

Work with your captains to gain experience where it will benefit you most, do not be sensative about who is PH and PNH and there is no reason why you can not swap duties mid flight to ensure the right experience is gained in the best way.

MM, thanks. All good advise. Out of 240 hrs flown so far I've only had 20 hrs at the controls. Gets very frustrating.

Bumz, I'm sure Im the only F/O with my company but it sounds like we have the same job!!

Sorry to hear about your treatment. You should ask how long your captain was kept as "ballast" only. Maybe such treatment left some damage to his ego.
I must say that I was very lucky through my career. Always flying with real gentlemen who were doing their best to keep me learning and interested in. Ever since I have been trying to do the same for others.
