Dave, I lived in St. Thomas in 1993-1994, but Air Sunshine was not there then.

The flying is almost always VMC, and similar operators run short hops between St. Croix, St. Thomas, Beef Island (British VI), and Puerto Rican airports.

St. Thomas is expensive, less so on St. Croix, but less expensive than Alaska.

You can buy a condo on the beach in St. Croix for a very reasonable price. Other things are pricey.

Gasoline is very cheap there - it is refined on St. Croix.

Operators typically do not pay what they should be paying, but I can not speak for Air Sunshine.

Send a PM to B Sousa on this forum. He has lived there recently and may be able to give you some insight into Air Sunshine.

Flying the islands is pleasant if they do not work you too hard. Water sports are the thing there, sailing, diving, swimming, etc.

Good luck,

Suggest you check NTSB files. The islands are wonderful. TJSJ has to be one of the coolest airports in the world for the shear number of small aircraft and freighters, Check out Tolair.
