Anyone heard anything about their TELIC gong? Put the paperwork in days after it came out, but not heard a peep out of anyone and the Adjt just shrugs her shoulders when I ask.

I'm sure I saw something open source last week that a Scottish TA unit got theirs at a parade - just wondering if any light blue have seen theirs yet. Or am I being optimistic?

You are quite right, photo in yesterday's "Scotsman" newspaper.....TA sigs unit from Dundee being awarded by the Mayor(?) at a parade.

I haven't heard anything yet, nor have any of my colleagues....having said that, got too much other sh*t to worry about to be pestering the Adj!! Maybe I should enquire.....

Give the Adjt this number of the medals office at Innsworth and get her/him to bother them....

PMA Sec IM1c2d Innsworth ext 7628

They are really helpful.....NOT, but if you can bring a little stress into the lives of Civil Servants then you are a true friend.....:E

Spoke to the Medals office at Innsworth the other day. They told me that it is taking about 4 months to get medals issued from date of (their) receipt of application. Mustn't forget that PSF have the pleasure of having to vet every application and OC PMS/PSF has to sign the form. But, apparently, the hold up is mainly due to engraving - the Army Medals office does the engraving for the RAF - so guess who gets to the front of the queue!!

As an aside, why is it that we have to apply for medals? Surely, PMA must know who was there (from OMIS). They could use this as a starter for 10 and the send the list to stations to ask for a double check. There will be people missed off - not swiped into thetare correctly, AT force peopel who were flying in and out all the time and all manner of other reasons. Bet my Dad didn't have to apply for his medals at the end of WW2!!

QPQ - why do we have to apply for medals??

I have no doubt that PMA could quite easily do a print out of those who are eligible and send that of to the Gong Office. But you are thinking again. How many times do you have to be told to stop it!

If we are made to apply rather than automatically being issued, you can bet that there are those that a) do not care about medals b) forget c) don't know how to don't put in an application. Result, a furlong or 2 less of ribbon and a few kilos less of alloy, plus no administration to process the application and it all adds up to saving cash. Again. At the expense of the troops. Again.
