On 24th of June a 205 went down in Austria during external load operations. Pilot dead. Eye whitness reported that at approx. 600 ft the helicopter started tumbling around and started loosing altitude very quickly. It hit sloping ground and tumbled down till it was stopped by some trees. The pilot was kicked out of the AC with the complete seat assembly and was reported dead immediately.

Yes it was from Knaus, I've seen the photos..what a mess. I'm not surprised he didn't survive. Apparently it was his third crash( what and why I don't know), but it got him this time.
RIP

Confirm Knaus and feel sad about the bad series on the Knaus ops. Some months ago the "Martin" (AS355) accident.
Weather was not so good and some witnesses have spotted the chrash. After a go-around with sling load the helicopter tumbled out of control downward. The pilot was a ex mil guy and without questions very experienced especially with sling loads.

A matter of the Language here. Its mentioned "Tumbling" to mean end over end, versus "spinning" as in around yet upright??
Anybody got something better.

205 pilot was Dietmar A. (33). He was more than 4 years employed by Knaus and had no other accidents during this time.
It was not the blue ship.

Andy B. (43) chrashed with "Martin 1" on 25.02. 2004
At the moment there is no final CAA report, but it seems to be going inbound human error.

good question. (sorry for us non-english born) "Thumbling" is the official word in the report. I would believe it could mean "Spinning". By the way, the accident occured in 4000ft MSL.

Not the way i want to see helicopters...
