View Full Version : Virgin Limo Pick-up Question

26th Jun 2004, 15:01
I'm using Virgin UC for the first time next week. I am going to Beijing and wondered if the limo drivers wait in the arrival halls (both in Beijing and on return to Heathrow) or is there a "marshalling" point for all UC passengers?
As a life-long BA Club'er, who is fed-up with the Gulag 744/Conair type service, the Virgin blurb seems to sound too good to be true. However, I'm looking forward to a change of scenery and a new experience.....

I don't know about Beijing, but at Heathrow T3, there is a Virgin desk for the limo service. It is located close to the exit near the terminal 3 bus station.

Trust me, once you've flown Virgin upper class, you'll never want to go cattle class again. I've not read the Virgin blurb, but I don't think their service can be beaten.

This is probably covering old ground but do ensure that tyhe Limo is booked. It is not automatically provided.

I'm sure that you will enjoy it, do let us all know what you think.

Unless you plan to hi-jack the plane, I don't think you'll be going to Beijing, VS fly to Shanghai Pu-Dong (PVG). Hope this doesn't upset your plans ;) ;)

Re the limo's at the downroute location, there'll be people with Virgin Upper Class signs to assist you, and if you're not sure, look for a red uniform in arrivals/ bggage hall.

At LHR T3, go straight ahead when you come through the doors from Customs and you'll see the Limo desk in front of you.

Have a great trip

Thanks for the info.

If you are going the whole hog with Virgin upper class, limo etc, I believe there is a dedicated limo check in at Heathrow, so you don't have to mix with the poorer upper class traveler:ok:
Lucky sod, have a great flight.

Strakes plan for Friday/Saturday:

Nice days private flying on Saturday followed by dinner in special little Italian with future Mrs Strake.

Reality: Stuck at Hilton Shanghai because Virgin cancelled flight at four hours notice and now can't get me out until Sunday.
Retribution will be swift and without mercy......

Don't want to rain on any parade but a few years ago, after Virgin introduced its UC/limo service, I was required to go to NY on business. Virgin was the company preferred carrier and I was delighted at the thought of being taken by "limo" to the airport. Day of departure dawned, time of limo arrived and into the car park of the condos where I live came... a battered Volvo minicab from a local cab company ... that was my UK "limo". On the other hand, upon arrival in NY an appropriately suited guy with my name on a card was waiting for me and a stretch limo (with drinks cabinet!) was my mode of transport to the hotel!! So...if you have time, try and find out from Virgin who they are using in your neighbourhood for the limo service! :ok:

Sounds bad BS but I can say that I know the UK company who provide this service, as I have been involved with them as one of the team of telecommunications specialists working on a project with them.

Having walked around their garage and looked at the cleaning and servicing, it all looked very smart. The vehicle of choice these days is Jaguar.

I also recall an occasion when I had a stretch limo to myself. I was going from the Vista Hotel (It was part of World Trade Centre and was underneath the falling towers) and going out to EWR to come home and got the full treatment. I must say, it was a pity not to have one to share it with!!

PAXboy sounds like Virgin has it now arranged very differently from when I travelled with them a few years back. I was and am usually a BA junkie and since the Virgin trip, due to personal/family reasons, wasn't working or travelling much until recently so am outta the loop...just remember being very disappointed with the Virgin limo service in UK.

Sorry for misinforming strake and I look forward to learning that the limo service was as anticipated!! :ok:

Thanks for your responses.

I have to say the limo service was excellent both in the UK and in Shanghai. It really is a value added service and operates exactly as advertised.
