From the DT this week:. .. ."A WOMAN who tried to open the door of a Boeing 757 as it flew towards Britain at 30,000ft with 200 people on board has been jailed for four months.. .. .Charmain Pitt, 26, a former heroin addict, of Thornaby, Teesside, had drunk several pints of lager and taken eight valium tablets, Newcastle upon Tyne crown court heard. She attacked passengers, abused the crew and demanded that the pilot telephone her boyfriend to tell him when the JMC flight from Majorca was due to land at Newcastle. The crew managed to restrain her, while the pilot alerted ground staff.. .. .Pitt admitted endangering the lives of passengers and interfering with the crew.". .. .and.......... .. ."A JUDGE jailed an airline passenger who made a drunken assault on two stewardesses during a flight to Ibiza.. .. .Jonathan Bennett, 29, of Newcastle upon Tyne, was jailed for 15 months at Hove Crown Court, East Sussex, yesterday."

This apparently short sentence would reflect the mitigating features from a Pre-Sentece Report and a third off for the early guilty plea.. .. .She will serve two months under the automatic release scheme and then allowed out on licence.. .. .MP

Very good news, happy to read it, thank you NW!. .Hope it gets a lot of publicity.. .. .Don't fly the 757 but probably plug type doors there as well, so the "endangering" bit not all that acute.. .The fear she must have inspired in the other pax was pretty horrific no doubt, and thoughts go to the colleagues who had to deal with this crazed dope-head! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="mad.gif" /> . .. .Well done the British judicial system!!
