Does anybody know what happened to a MD520N whilst attempting to land on a ship off Gladstone the other day?

What appears to have occurred is as follows. It is tentative information until investigations are completed.
The aircraft is equipped with fixed floats. After landing on board an inbound ship, a gear leg failed, allowing the aircraft to tilt to the right. As the rotor blades were going to contact the deck, the pilot shut down and secured the aircraft to minimise damage. The aircraft remained in place until dockside in harbour, and was removed to a maintenance facility for inspection and repair. There were no injuries.
Rigorous inspection procedures had been in place, but the crack appears to be recent. Investigations are in progress as to cause of the crack and consequent leg failure. The ATSB are involved.
