Hi guys!

Wondering if you could help? My bro is just back from Iraq where he got a laptop. Now being home for only 2 days and surfing the web for god knows what as squaddies do he's buggered it.

Basically it wont start up. If my memory serves me correctlywas there not a virus not that long ago that caused this?

Any help appreciated!

Thanks,

Kempus

Hi Kempus,

Can you boot into safemode? (See here (http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2001052409420406) for info on how to, if needed.) If so, run your virus checker. If you don't have one, then and go here (http://housecall.trendmicro.com/housecall/start_corp.asp), and run the online virus scan; choosing the Autoclean option just before clicking the Scan button. (You can access the 'net in safe mode with XP.) Then reboot back into normal mode if you can.

Let me know how you get on.

Cheers

Kempus,

Depending on what you find infected in your computer, you might want to think about doing a fresh install of your OS. (This applies only if your system was infected by a destructive virus.)

hi guys!

thaks for the replies but my bro put it into the shop where they had to re install the OS.

Was some kind of destructive virus but that'll teach him!
