Etihad flies Daily From London Heathrow
and Daily from London Gatwick

Etihad Airways, the National Airline of the United Arab Emirates, has announced that it is introducing departures from London Gatwick and increasing the number of flights to Abu Dhabi by 50 per cent to 15 a week for winter 2004.

The new schedule will see Etihad introducing seven flights a week from London Gatwick in addition to offering eight flights a week from London Heathrow.

Peter Dunkin, Etihad Airways’ General Manager in the UK, comments:
“This new schedule continues Etihad’s expansion in the UK. We are delighted to offer our guests the choice of daily flights from Heathrow or Gatwick as well as the convenience of daylight and overnight flights to and from Abu Dhabi. The schedule will also offer more convenient onward connections to Bangkok, Colombo, India and other destinations”

Roger Cato, BAA Gatwick's Managing Director said: "It is great news for us that a prestigious airline such as Etihad is launching a service from Gatwick. The Middle East is a hugely important market for Gatwick, and we looking forward to working closely with Etihad to help make the route a success."

Etihad commenced operations from the UK on 28 March 2004 and currently operates 10 services a week from London Heathrow to Abu Dhabi.
The addition of the new flights is part of Etihad’s ongoing programme of rapid expansion, which include plans to operate to 17 destinations by the end of the year. Major plans for the acquisition of new aircraft are due to be unveiled later in the summer.

Presumably the split London operation is partly because of lack of slots at Heathrow, but just as much to get the connecting oil industry traffic from Houston and Dallas to the Middle East, which can only use Gatwick at the London end.

Presumably the split London operation is because lot's of people prefer Gatwick to that nasty sh11ty big airport up the road known as Heathrow:yuk:
Besides when Emirates starts non-stop Houston - Dubai with the 340-500, guess how the oil industry traffic's gonna travel:ok:
